Guangzhou Tower Overview
Location: Haizhu District, Guangzhou
Total Height: 600 meters (1,968 feet)
Floors: 112
As a landmark of Guangzhou, the Canton Tower stands on the south bank of the Pearl RiverSouth Bank of the Pearl River, facing Haishensha Island to the north. As China’s tallest television tower and the world’s third tallest, it remains a must-visit attraction in Guangzhou’s Haizhu District. From its summit, visitors enjoy panoramic city views. The tower houses exciting entertainment facilities, romantic restaurants serving delicious cuisine, and multiple spectacular viewing platforms—some holding world records. Its design is equally distinctive. Designer Mark Hemel drew inspiration from the skeletal structure of a woman’s hip joint, creating a slender waistline at the tower’s midpoint that resembles the subtle sway of an elegant woman turning her head. At its narrowest point, the diameter measures approximately 30 meters (32 yards). The Canton Tower has become a new landmark for Guangzhou and is counted among the city’s eight major new attractions. Whether traveling by Pearl River cruise or strolling along the riverside, visitors can admire this majestic tower. Especially at night, it transforms into a dazzling gown, radiant under a kaleidoscope of lights. The tower is divided into five zones based on height: Zone E, Zone D, Zone C, Zone B, and Zone A. Each level offers distinct attractions for visitors to explore.
1.Zone E
♥488 Observation Deck
Zone E (including antennas) stands at 376 meters (1,233 feet) above sea level and houses the tower’s most thrilling attractions. The “488 Observation Deck” atop the tower, at 488 meters (1,601 feet), holds the Guinness World Record as the world’s highest outdoor observation deck, offering visitors panoramic views of Guangzhou. For photography enthusiasts, it’s also an ideal spot to capture sunrises, moonlight, starry skies, and sweeping cityscapes.
♥Sky Drop
The Sky Drop experience begins at 485 meters (1,591 feet) with a 100-foot free fall, making it the world’s tallest vertical free-fall thrill ride. Seeking thrills? Choose between the traditional “seated drop” or the free-fall “standing drop.” Use this opportunity to release stress, alleviate anxiety, and escape boredom.
♥Bubble Tram
The Bubble Tram is one of the most beloved attractions for visitors. This tram features 16 crystal-clear observation cabins that rotate around the tower’s structure. Located at the tower’s summit, it sits 455 meters (1,492 feet) above the base. With its breathtaking panoramic city views, the Bubble Tram is considered a romantic spot for proposals.
♥Engineering Marvels Tour Hall
The Engineering Marvels Exhibition Hall, situated on the 109th and 110th floors of Canton Tower, protects the structure from hurricanes and earthquakes.
♥Starry Sky Observatory and Cloud Sea Observatory
The Starry Sky Observatory and Cloud Sea Observatory are located on the 108th and 107th floors of Canton Tower, respectively. The observatory also features a Space Post Office, where you can purchase souvenirs or postcards to send to friends and family.
