The annual Harbin World Ice and Snow Festival takes place in late December (possibly on the 25th or 26th) and lasts until late February or early March. You can take part in this international event during this period and experience the rich festive atmosphere.
If you want to enjoy the opening ceremony and spectacular fireworks display on January 5, you need to visit on that day.
2. Festival venues
Ice and Snow World Venue, Sun Island Snow Sculpture Art Fair and Zhaolin Park Ice Lantern Venue are the three main venues of Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival.
3. What can I do before the December holidays?
The giant snow and ice sculptures began to be made in mid-December, prior to the opening of the Ice Festival venues. Since the arena is closed until the end of December, visitors can’t get up close to see the ice sculptures being made. However, there are plenty of other places to see ……
On Central Street, if lucky enough, you can see how people make (small) snow sculptures. Take a warm shuttle bus to the Northeast Tiger Park where you can see the tigers in the great outdoors. Ski or vacation, take a hot spring …… Although the Ice and Snow Festival hasn’t started yet, you can still have fun in Harbin!
4. Protect your digital products
Batteries are easily affected by low temperatures. When you are out and about, place your cell phone and camera in a warm bag or jacket. If you plan to take a lot of photos, be sure to carry a spare battery, as batteries can drain quickly in cold temperatures.
