February
February Destinations in China
February is the last month of winter in most parts of China. The warmer parts of the country are a great time to enjoy the rape flowers and plum blossoms. Meanwhile, the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, is more likely to arrive in February, when China will be filled with joy and grand celebrations.

1. Beijing - The Great Wall and skiing in the snow
■Average temperature in February: -5-3°C (23-37°F)
■February is the low season for traveling to Beijing (except during the Chinese New Year). You can enjoy a less crowded trip, especially at the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace, which can be packed during peak season.
■If you are interested in skiing, Beijing is an ideal place. There are several ski resorts around Beijing, such as Chongli Tai Dance Ski Resort and Nanshan Ski Resort.
■If you are traveling during the Chinese New Year, we recommend attending one of Beijing’s temple fairs, a traditional event that has been held at ancient temples for centuries. The most famous temple fairs in Beijing are the Factory Dian Temple Fair, the Dongyue Temple Fair and the Baiyun Temple Fair.

2. Harbin - Colorful Ice and Snow Festival
■Average temperature in February: -21 to -8°C (-7 to 17°F)
■Harbin is the northernmost city in China, close to Russia. There you can see many Russian-style buildings, such as the St. Sophia Orthodox Church. It is always an ideal place to visit during winter in China.
■The Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival lasts until the end of February. You can see many famous (life-size) buildings carved out of snow and ice, among other things.
■Harbin is also a good place for skiing, if you are interested in skiing, you can refer to Yabuli Ski Center, Erlongshan Ski Resort and Jihua Ski Resort.

3. Yunnan - terraces, flowers, hot springs
■Average temperature in February: 5-20°C (41-68°F)
■February is a good time to visit the Yuanyang Terraces (located in the Kunming region of southwestern China). It is one of the five most beautiful terraces in China.
■It is like a huge palette of colors, with fields of red soil and water reflecting the azure sky and golden sunlight, made even more enchanting in mid-February when the wildflowers are in full bloom.
■This is also the ideal month to see rapeseed flowers in Luoping, which bloom in yellow between February and March, covering an area of more than 100 square kilometers (39 square miles).
■Warm subtropical sunshine, clear dry-season skies and a temperate climate allow you to enjoy an abundance of outdoor activities. Explore the tropical landscapes of Xishuangbanna, hike the pristine Tea Horse Trail in Lijiang, or relax in the volcanic hot springs of Tengchong.

4. Huangshan - Magnificent Snow Scenery
■Average January Temperature: -22-3°C (-8-37°F)
■If you are looking for stunning views of mountain snow, Mount Huangshan is an ideal destination.
■Unlike many famous photographs, in February Huangshan is a magnificent sight of pure white. The famous “sea of clouds” is more likely to occur in winter.
■Sunrises and sunsets on the mountain are spectacular, and most of the time you can enjoy the scenery alone, unlike in the summer when it is crowded with people.
