Lushan
Mt Lushan National Park
This scenic mountain range is famous in China for its beauty and long history. It was once a famous religious mountain and in more recent times is known for its historic place in the lives of Chinese leaders. Today, it is an excellent place for hiking and sightseeing in southeastern China.
Mount Lu has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1996. It is dotted with ancient temples and buildings. One of the big advantages of Mount Lu for most visitors is that it is not as overdeveloped as other national parks in China, so you can enjoy some rugged scenery and hiking with fewer crowds.

Wulao Peak (Located in the most famous attraction of Mount Lushan – three-stage waterfalls)

Tunglin Temple(Ancient temple with a history of over 1600 years)

Travel Tips
■Best month to visit: Summer is the best season to visit Mount Lushan, with pleasant climate and the most magnificent scenery. In the hot summer, Mount Lu is a summer resort. In April, the flowers bloom and the gardens are full of blossoms; in October, the leaves change color. Mount Lu has beautiful scenery all year round.
■Expensive: In addition to the general admission fee of 180 yuan, the garden also includes admission fees for some attractions. For example, the entrance fee for the Three-tiered Waterfall Scenic Spot costs an additional 65 or 70 yuan (about $10 or $11). There is also a fee to ride the gondola, and meals in the park are more expensive.
■Avoid the stores: Some stores sell overpriced and factory-made souvenirs. There is not much to buy except tea.
■Avoid the crowds: To avoid the crowds, don’t travel on weekends and holidays. On these days, crowds can be unpleasant and even dangerous. But at other times, you will find yourself alone in beautiful places.
■Watch your step: parts of the road have no guardrails. It is especially dangerous to be near steep hills in the midst of crowds.
■Weather and scenery: Foggy most of the year, with about 192 days of fog on the mountain. Fog often obscures the view. There is a large temperature difference between the foot of the mountain and the summit.
■Humidity: Rainy weather and fog make the rocks slippery and hotel rooms feel damp. Non-slip shoes are recommended.
